Dog-friendly
Every issue has a dog section. If we do not know, we do not list it. Patio yes still means ask the day-of — a new manager can kill a water bowl overnight.
The named off-leash sand. Bags, water, and a leash in the car for everywhere else. City beach outside this stretch: leash. Lifeguards will say so. Do not send a reactive dog onto the pier at August sunset.
Central Park dog park (Goldenwest / Talbert area) — fenced, split small/large if posted. Murdy Park — neighborhood walk, leash unless a fenced area is open. Bolsa Chica path on a leash, early; the Ecological Reserve inner trails are typically no dogs. See around town.

The one that actually cooks for the dog. Breakfast and lunch, outdoor, birthday parties if you must.
Hotel patio, cocktails, the stay that wants the dog. Weekday happy hour. Splurge by sandwich standards; Go by “I have a wet retriever and a credit card.”
Main Street sidewalk. Margaritas. Fine on a Tuesday market night if the dog does crowds.
Waterfront patio, sometimes. Ask. Do not walk a sandy dog through the dining room.
Outdoor tables, tacos, a dog under the bench. Counter service helps.
The other patios people actually use. Outdoor only. If the host looks unsure, that is a no.
Often yes outside, not the indoor rooms. Festival weekends are a lot of boots and beer; your call.
The name is doing a lot of work. Confirm the dog policy when you go — a dog-themed special is not the same as a patio rule.
Open air, sand, live music. State Beach rules still apply. Water and shade are on you.
Surf City Nights: leash, and it is crowded after 6. Plum Festival / Oktoberfest: patio energy, not a dog festival. Never list a “dog-friendly concert” unless the venue said so this year.
